MBAs and Other Programs Offered Through the College of Business at California State University, Sacramento
The Sacramento State College of Business offers two MBA programs that are designed to align with your professional and personal goals:
MBA
The flexible, self-paced MBA (choose from full- or part-time study) features a curriculum that can be customized through your choice of electives or a pre-designed concentration. The courses in this traditional MBA program are offered on campus, in the evenings (Monday – Thursday). A culminating experience rounds out this 33-44-unit course of study.
Online MBA (iMBA)
The fully online MBA is offered as a one-year (12-month), cohort-based program that features four-week courses taken one at a time. The iMBA, which is designed to produce successful business leaders in the global marketplace, offers an exploration of the critical business functions of successful international companies.
The online MBA includes a blend of synchronous and asynchronous courses. Synchronous classes are held on Fridays from 3-7PM and on Saturdays from 8AM-2PM. The cohort design allows students to study alongside like-minded peers in an intimate, online learning environment. Instruction is complemented with executive co-instructors and guest speakers.
Note: International students are NOT accepted into the iMBA.

MBA Program Customization
The MBA at the CSUS College of Business can be customized by choosing a concentration in Finance or Entrepreneurship & Global Business. Students may also choose a General Management (no concentration) design, which allows them to create a tailored MBA through their choice of electives.
The College of Business offers an outstanding selection of innovative elective courses, such as Advanced Investment Strategies, Negotiation and Relationship Management, Quality and Process Improvement in Healthcare, Real Estate Finance and Investment, and Security Analysis and Portfolio Management.
While the iMBA does not offer concentration options, its curriculum features an international business focus.
MBA Admissions Requirements
The MBA and iMBA programs are open to all bachelor’s degree holders, regardless of major, with a 2.5 minimum cumulative GPA.
GMAT/GRE
GMAT/GRE scores are not currently required. The GMAT/GRE waiver is automatic; no waiver form is required for admission.
Work Experience
Work experience is NOT required for admission into the MBA or iMBA.
English Proficiency
Students who completed their undergraduate studies in another country must submit English Language Proficiency exam scores
- TOEFL: Minimum score of 550; Internet-based minimum score of 80
- IELTS: Minimum score of 6.5
- PTE: Minimum score of 65
Additional Requirements
Your application must include:
- Two letters of recommendation: Applicants must send an email request to two individuals, who will then complete the Recommendation Form or write their own letter and upload it to the Cal State Apply system email portal.
- Statement of career objectives: This one-page statement should include a description of your short- and long-term career goals and how you believe the MBA will help you achieve them.

Specialty Business Program Accreditation
The Cal State Sacramento College of Business holds accreditation through the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools. Fewer than 6 percent of all business schools worldwide hold the prestigious AACSB accreditation.
The CSUS College of Business was first awarded AACSB accreditation in 1963 and has upheld the stringent standards needed to maintain accreditation ever since.
Experiential Learning and Travel Opportunities
The Sacramento State College of Business is where you’ll find outstanding opportunities for immersive business learning.
The Center for Small Business offers technical business services for business enterprises and nonprofits in the region. The Center provides support and resources in a number of areas, including market research, production planning and control, advertising strategies, management improvement programs, and more. Graduate students, led by the College’s faculty members, provide consulting services to these businesses on a volunteer basis.
Students can also gain valuable, hands-on experience as an MBA Impact Consultant, where they participate in consulting projects with local nonprofits, governmental agencies, and small businesses.
Sac State’s MBA students frequently participate in the International Collegiate Business Strategy Competition (ICBSC), the world’s most comprehensive business competition that attracts university teams from all over the world. University teams run their own simulated firm and compete against other “firms” as part of this exciting event.

Sacramento State’s Career Center offers a variety of dedicated career services that include one-on-one career coaching, interview preparation, résumé enhancement, and networking events. The Biz Graduate Career Services hosts career fairs, info sessions, and workshops for all College of Business graduate students. And the Office of Student Engagement provides a broad range of services aimed specifically at the needs of business students.
