MBAs and Other Programs Offered Through the Cal State University San Bernardino College of Business & Public Administration

With respect for the fact that business students pursue an MBA at different points in their careers and with different professional and personal goals in mind, the Jack H. Brown College of Business & Public Administration offers three distinct MBA programs:

Traditional MBA

This traditional, two-year MBA program, which consists of between 12 and 14 classes (36-42 units) that can be completed in as little as four semesters, is designed to provide students with a foundation in business essentials alongside options to specialize in a chosen area of business.

Executive MBA

The Executive MBA, which consists of 10 classes (30 units) that can be completed in as little as four semesters, is designed for early- to mid-career business professionals looking to expand their skills and knowledge in the broader scope of business education.

Online Executive MBA

The Online Executive MBA, which consists of ten, six-week classes (30 units) that can be completed in 18-24 months, is designed for early- to mid-career business professionals interested in earning their degree in a fully online, accelerated format.

While the Executive and Online Executive MBAs provide a broad examination of graduate business education, the Traditional MBA allows students to custom tailor the program by selecting an area of focus in one of the following areas:

MBA Admissions Requirements

Applicants must meet specific requirements for entry into the Brown College of Business & Public Administration’s MBA programs:

Degree/GPA

The MBA programs are open to bachelor degree holders with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (may include post-baccalaureate work), regardless of major or discipline.

Traditional MBA applicants with strong GMAT/GRE scores and/or professional experience may also apply with a minumum GPA of 2.5.

Executive and Online Executive MBA applicants with substantive work experience may also apply with a minimum GPA of 2.5

Work Experience

No work experience is required for entry into the Traditional MBA. Applicants of the Executive and Online Executive MBA programs must have at least two years of substantive work experience.

Personal Statement

Applicants for the Traditional MBA must submit a 250-500-word statement detailing their personal qualifications and academic motivation for pursuing the MBA.

Applicants for the Executive and Online Executive MBA must submit a 200-250-word statement detailing their reasons for pursuing the MBA at Cal State San Bernardino and their personal qualifications that will allow them to successfully complete the program.

Resume

Applicants must submit a current resume documenting all paid and volunteer experience, including the months each position began and ended.

Letter of Recommendation

Applicants must submit one letter of recommendation that can be sent on official letterhead, using the university’s official Letter of Recommendation form, or through the Cal State Apply system.

Interview

Applicants must schedule and sit for an interview with an MBA staff member.

Traditional MBA applicants must display Business Aptitude by meeting one of the following requirements:

English Proficiency (International students only)

Applicants whose education has been in a language other than English must submit scores for one of the following English proficiency exams:

Boot Camp

All three MBAs include a Boot Camp experience that is designed to help students prepare for the rigors of their graduate program. The Boot Camp experience includes a series of mini self-study modules that cover accounting, finance, information management, supply chain management, management, and marketing. Prior to enrolling in the first class of each program, students must complete the MBA Boot Camp modules.

The tuition for the BA in Administration is $8,092 per year ($32,368 total) for in-state residents. The tuition for students residing in states that are part of the Western University Exchange Program (WICHE WUE) is $9,126 per year ($36,504). Out-of-state and international students pay a tuition rate of $15,862 per year ($63,448 total).

The CGM also offers two globally focused internship programs – the Global Access Program Internship, a short-term (5-15 weeks) program where students help domestic companies conduct business abroad through the completion of specific market research, and the Global Incubator Internship, which allows students to work with Planet63, a product sourcing and logistics company that specializes in sourcing, shipping, and selling Philippine products to the global market.
